I’ve been getting advertisements for Remote Year. It’s a service that sets everything up for you. You travel for 1 year, 6 months or 4 months depending on the program you choose. All travel arrangements are taken care of for you, housing situated and work spaces provided.
All you need is a downpayment, monthly income and a positive attitude.
I had a phone call today with one of their advisors to go over why I want to join the program. They asked me why I wanted to join the program.
Why do I want to join the program?
Traveling for 3 months with my best friend this year was one of the best things to ever happen to me. From April to July we traveled from Paris to Zurich to Milan to Venice To Rome then ended our trip in Barcelona. I saw so much beauty in that trip that I have been aching to go back ever since.
I got to see and experience things I didn’t think I would ever experience. I fell in love in each spot that I visited. I met new people, I expanded my mind and most of all, I made memories I will never forget.
I want to meet new people and make new friends. It’s plain and simple. I want to meet new people and make new friends. I am in NO WAY replacing any of my current friends – because no body could do that honestly, they are the best! I just want to push myself to expand and be influenced by more humans in the world.
What better time than now. I have a remote job, I have very little tying me to stay in the United States at the moment and I have a passion for seeing the world. It doesn’t get much better than that. Besides, I’ll come back after this voyage is over and I won’t be gone forever.
Ultimately, there are a lot of excuses that can be made not to do something like this. But…..but…..but….there are more benefits for me to go then for me to stay right where I’m at. This may be the perfect time in my life to go and have this experience.
I’m 33 years old, I’m unmarried, I have no kids, no obligations that tie me here. If there ever was a time to explore these types of opportunities – the time is now.
I have a follow up call scheduled with my advisor and we will talk finances and logistics. I’m excited about the opportunity and if it’s not this program, then that’s okay too.
But I am going to explore the opportunity and see what is out there for me. After all, we only have this one life to live.
